Who we are
“The disciple community does not shake off sorrow as though it were no concern of its own, but willingly bears it. And in this way show how close are the bonds which bind them to the rest of humanity.”
Dietrich Bonhoeffer
You are always invited to come and experience for yourself our faith community here in Charlotte, Vermont. This is what we hope you will discover:
› a multi-aged, energetic and inclusive Christian congregation that celebrates a diversity of understandings of Christianity while also embracing the wisdom of many spiritual traditions;
› a family-friendly congregation in a relaxed atmosphere that enjoys the sounds of children and babies in worship, offers a dynamic Sunday School program, engaging youth groups, and family activities throughout the year;
› a concerned congregation that supports in significant ways local, national and international ministries of care for the poor and believes peacemaking and nonviolence are areas where we as Christians need to bear witness;
› a musical congregation that loves to worship God with a wonderful range of musical styles and instrumentation – from classical to contemporary, from guitars to organ, bagpipes to piano, harp to a cappella singing – and is intentional about worship services meeting the spiritual needs of the diverse people who attend;
› a thoughtful congregation that appreciates challenging sermons which bring the Gospel message to bear upon our daily lives and that comes together to study both the Bible and those provocative writers who open us to new ways of thinking and acting in the world, like Marcus Borg, Philip Newell, Richard Rohr, and Walter Wink;
› a nature-loving congregation that experiences God revealed in the “Book of Creation”, resonates with the Celtic Christian tradition and believes that environmental stewardship needs to be a critical part of Christian practice today;
But come and experience our community for yourself. Worship is always at 10:00am on Sundays. Childcare is provided for the youngsters and Sunday School for preschool ages through 8th grade during worship. We hope to meet you soon…
